General Admission Requirements
To qualify for all programs, an applicant must be at least 18 years old and able to:
- Pass the written entrance examination given by the school (HOBET) for all programs except Vocational Nursing Program (NET)
- Speak, read and comprehend the English Language
- Perform the physical duties required of a nurse or healthcare worker
- Communicate effectively
- Utilize intellectual abilities, exercise good judgment and complete tasks within required time limits
- Show integrity, concern and respect for others, interpersonal skills, interest and motivation
- Have no convictions of crimes other than minor traffic offenses
- Pass a physical examination and medical history that indicates the applicant is free of communicable disease
- Pass a screening test for tuberculosis with PPD skin test or a chest X-ray
- Must have a valid state issued I.D. card
CMA will also determine that each applicant has no disabilities, physical or otherwise that would prevent use of knowledge or skill gained from the training offered to achieve success on the job or after completion of the program, or once employed.
Application Process
- Meet with an Admissions Representative
- Complete a student questionnaire for application to the college
- Take the Health Occupation Basic Entrance Test (HOBET) published by Educational Resources Incorporated (ERI). The assessment will determine the students' readiness to work at the level required to successfully complete the program. Candidates must meet the required proficiency scores of 59% in math and 54% in reading to be accepted in the program of choice. Candidates passing the assessment exam may then proceed with the enrollment process.*
- Complete an enrollment application
- Meet with Financial Department Representative and complete all financial arrangements. All financial arrangements must be completed prior to admission.
- Meet with Program Director or assigned designee for personal interview
- Complete and sign an Enrollment Agreement
*The re-take of HOBET test is permitted one month later if the applicant did not pass the first time. The maximum allowance to take HOBET test is twice per one calendar year.
