40 clock hours
Objectives
The Home Health Training Program is structured to provide 20 hours of Theory and 20 hours of Clinical (practical application of knowledge and skills) needed to function as a home health aide in client’s private home setting, assisted living facilities, day care, etc. Students who complete the course will also be awarded 24 units of Continuing Education credit hours which can be used to renew their Nursing Assistant Certificate.
Career Opportunity
The Home Health Care industry is one of the fastest growing businesses in the United States. The high cost of hospitalization, an older population with more long-term illnesses, and the desire to be at home during convalescence are a few of the factors which have created the high demand for home health care. This demand has created a need for competent and caring health care workers to provide the physical, psychological, and environmental support required by clients in their home setting and assisted-living facilities.
Schedule
Classes will be offered on an alternating schedule with the Sub-acute CNA CEU. Home Health Aide is generally an evenings/weekends course, but some flexibility may be possible. CMA maintains a 15:1 student/teacher ratio in class and clinical settings. Emphasis is placed on patient rights, legal issues, communication, documentation, safety and the utilization of basic nursing procedures.
Please Note
CMA’s Home Health Aide Certification Program is a Continuing Education (CE) course. Students must show proof of valid NA certification before they can be enrolled.
